I have never eaten a pomegranate. I have, however, tried its juice. The combination of blueberry and pomegranate juice is quite delicious. I guess like many Americans, I find the fruit a bit exotic and I am not quite sure how to eat it. I have always heard you eat the seeds instead of the meat of the fruit. One of the things I enjoy the most about holiday family gatherings is bringing out the games. Fortunately, Thanksgiving (Nov. 26) lands right in the middle of National Game and Puzzle Week (Nov. 22-28). Exercise your mind, reduce stress and have fun with friends and family with a little game time. (Watching the football game does not count.)

Now that Daylight Savings Time has ended, the days are even shorter. It’s a sure sign that winter is right around the corner. I said to someone the other day that I wanted to hibernate like a bear. While I don’t think I want to stock up on the calories like a bear preparing for winter, Sandwich Day (Nov. 3) gives me an excuse to eat. It’s the birthday of John Montagu, the fourth Earl of Sandwich. Will it be a reuben or maybe a (lightly) fried peanut butter and banana sandwich?

If you have bills to pay around the 15^th, make sure you get them in the mail before Nov. 11. The post office and the bank will be closed for Veterans Day.
