I have never eaten a pomegranate. I have, however, tried its juice. The combination of blueberry and pomegranate juice is quite delicious. I guess like many Americans, I find the fruit a bit exotic and I am not quite sure how to eat it. I have always heard you eat the seeds instead of the meat of the fruit. November is the perfect time to give the fruit a try during Pomegranate Month. Learn all about the evolution of this fruit from In a Nutshell. You will also learn about a cell phone-caused injury and how the users of on-line travel services are changing. Any time is a good time to give to those around you, but you can make a special point to do it during World Kindness Week (Nov 9-15). Both you and the recipient of your good deeds reap the benefits. If you need a few ideas to get you started, visit www.actsofkindness.org. One of the things I enjoy the most about holiday
family gatherings is bringing out the games. Fortunately, Thanksgiving
(Nov. 26) lands right in the middle of National Game and Puzzle Week
(Nov. 22-28). Exercise your mind, reduce stress and have fun with
friends and family with a little game time. (Watching the football game
does not count.) Now that Daylight Savings Time has ended, the days are even shorter. It’s a sure sign that winter is right around the corner. I said to someone the other day that I wanted to hibernate like a bear. While I don’t think I want to stock up on the calories like a bear preparing for winter, Sandwich Day (Nov. 3) gives me an excuse to eat. It’s the birthday of John Montagu, the fourth Earl of Sandwich. Will it be a reuben or maybe a (lightly) fried peanut butter and banana sandwich? If you have bills to pay around the 15th, make sure you get them in the mail before Nov. 11. The post office and the bank will be closed for Veterans Day. After you make sure your accounts are in order, tune up your mind and find a healthy snack in Treehouse Trivia. Then take a little time for fun with a Thanksgiving word find in Treehouse Games. | |
